Talking Photo Album

Used by specialists in challenging behaviours in long-term care facilities, talking photo albums can reduce and even stop certain aggressive, anxious and apathetic behaviours.

The most effective technique for reassuring anxious and agitated residents is to redirect them verbally or with an outside element. When residents can see photos from their past and hear familiar voices, they return to times in their lives when they were happier, in control of their lives and close to their loved ones.

Simply slide the photos into the clear plastic sleeves and record a 10-second message for each photo. You can record your own voice, but if families make the recordings during a visit or prepare the album at home, the results will be even better. The resident opens the album, presses the photo's button and hears the message as many times as they wish. Sticking a red dot on the button or writing "Press here" makes the process easier.
